Best Stardew Valley Mods

I've been obsessively playing Stardew Valley for hundreds of hours now. I actually never played it without mods. I initially thought about getting the game on the PS but after learning about mods I got it on the PC and I am so glad I did. I have over 90 mods installed and absolutely love each and every one.

To played modded Stardew Valley, you first have to download SMAPI. If you want you can launch SMAPI via Steam. This way you will also unlock Steam achievements when you play the game. In order to do this, go to Stardew Valley in your Steam library, right click on it and select Properties. In the launch options, copy paste this: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Stardew Valley\StardewModdingAPI.exe" %command%

Of course change the directory if your Steam is located somewhere else. Mine is in D:/ so I had to edit mine.

I won't list every single mod I use but I will share the best ones and my favourite ones. I will try to categorise them as well as I can so it'll be easier to find one to your liking. Some of the mods I use could be considered cheaty, you do not have to download these if you don't want to. However every single mod I use greatly increases the fun I get from playing Stardew Valley and I'm playing it in single player. So I am not affecting anyone else's gameplay by using those mods at all. I'm merely increasing my entertainment.

All the links for each mod are provided. Simply click on the mod name to be directed to the page where you can view and download.

Stardew Valley Quality of Life Mods

Ui Info Suite: This mod displays basic information in the ui, such as your luck status, villager birthdays, if the travelling merchant is visiting and if there is a cooking recipe available.

Automate: This mod is an essential for me. It allows your crafters to automatically withdraw raw materials from a chest placed next to them and then place back the processed item into that chest. It completely automates the entire processing.

Friends Forever: This mod disables friendship decay. So you won't lose any friendship if you forget to talk to a villager that day. By default friendship decay on your married partner is disabled but you can also enable this. It affects your animals too.

Billboard Anywhere: This mod allows you to access the quest billboard and calendar from anywhere.

Lookup Anything: This mod allows you to look up literally anything in the game by pressing F1. You can hover over a crop and see if any villager likes it, which recipes require that crop and so on. It gives you all the info you need without having to check the wiki every second.

NPC Map Locations: This mod is an absolute must. It shows you where each villager is on the map without you having to manually search around for them.

CJB Show Item Sell Price: This mod allows you to see the sell price of an item.

Visible Fish: This mods allows you to see the catchable fish in the water. You can see them swim and find out if the fish you need is available to be caught.

Gift Taste Helper: This mod displays the loved gifts of every villager. This greatly helps you with increasing friendships with them.

Tractor Mod: This mod adds the tractor in your game. You must build it at Robin's first and it's quite expensive to construct. With the tractor you can mass till soil, plant and water crops. In Stardew Valley endgame we have such massive farms, instead of doing everything one by one or 6x3 with upgrades, you can do it in a much bigger area in a much faster way.

Yet Another Harvest With Scythe: This mod allows you to harvest with the scythe. It greatly increases the speed of harvesting crops.

Self Serve: This is a must have mod for me. It allows you to interact with shops even if the shop owners aren't in. Do you need to buy hay but Marnie isn't at her ranch? That's okay, you can still buy it without her having to be there.

Auto Animal Doors: This mod automates the doors of your coop and barn. You can even set the timers for them. You don't have to remember to open or close the doors every single day.

Horse Squeeze: This mod allows your horse to squeeze in one tile so you can ride through tight locations without having to dismount.

Skip Fishing Minigame: If you also hate the fishing minigame like me, this mod is great for you. It completely eliminates the fishing minigame. You only click once when the fish bites and you catch it. So simple and effective.

No Fence Decay: This mod stops your fences from decaying.

Tree Transplant: This mod allows you to change the locations of any tree, including fruit tress, without having to cut it down and then planting a new one and waiting for it to grow. You just go to Robin and select the transplant tree option.

Bigger Backpack: This mod adds a new backpack upgrade. It costs 50.000 gold.

Skull Cavern Elevator: This mod adds an elevator to the skull cavern dungeon. It works the same way as the elevator in the mines.

Ladder Locator: This mod displays which stones will generate a ladder for you to go deeper in the mines or skull cavern.

Stardew Valley Expansion Mods

Stardew Valley Expanded: This is probably the most popular mod for Stardew Valley. It adds tons of new locations, new items, new crops, new cooking recipes, new npcs, new fish etc etc. This can be a very overwhelming mod for those who are new to Stardew Valley so I strongly recommend playing through the base game first and then download this.

Ridgeside Village: This is another extremely popular Stardew Valley mod. This is similar to the Stardew Valley Expanded that it adds tons of new content to the game. My recommendation above applies to this mod as well.

Retextures

Animal Reskins

Elle's New Coop Animals: This is a reskin for all coop animals. There are multiple reskins and you can pick any you like.

Elle's New Barn Animals: Same as above, this mod is a reskin for barn animals. Again there are multiple versions and you can pick whatever you like.

Pet Facelift: This mod reskins your pet. There are many different dog and cat skins. I'm currently using the husky for my dog.

Furniture

Buildings

Medievil Buildings: This mod only reskins the buildings on your farm. To change the skins of the entire town in the same style download the following mod:

Bathroom after 2nd House Upgrade: This mod adds a bathroom to your house after you get the 2nd upgrade. You can use the bath to regenerate energy if you want but I only use it for decoration.

Clothes

Fashion Sense: This mod adds the hand mirror item in Pierre's store. Once you purchase it, you can change your clothes. There are lots of other clothing mods that require Fashion Sense. Once you download those mods, the clothes will show up in the hand mirror.

Cozy Scarves: This and the next one are perfect for winter :)

Scarecrows

Owl ScarecrowsI really don't like the default scarecrows but I happen to love owls so these two mods are perfect for me.
