Maji Market is Back in Palia - How to Win the Hotpot Minigame

After about a month of no updates due to the holiday season, Palia came back strong with a major update, fixing many bugs as well as adding lots of new decoration options and bringing back the Maji Market event.

Maji Market comes with many new features. There is a lot more to do now other than Chaapa Chase. A new minigame called the hotpot is added, you can try your luck at the Zeki Wheel and make wishes at the Wishing Tree.

What I love about the improved version of the Maji Market is the new Hotpot minigame and how exclusive rewards are locked behind participation in minigames rather than spending your hard earned gold. In the previous Maji Market, exclusive items were extremely expensive and they required ingame gold. When you bought everything with your money, there really wasn't much incentive to do anything else since very few items required Maji Market exclusive currency.

But now about 95% or so of the items require Lucky Envelopes, a new exclusive currency introduced in the new and improved Maji Market event.

Lucky Envelopes can be earned by doing various activities at the event. You can play the Chaapa Chase minigame, you can play the Hotpot minigame, you can try your luck at the Zeki Wheel to have a chance to win some or wish for Lucky Envelopes when you make your wish at the Wish Tree. Remember, you can only make one wish per real life day so choose your wish wisely. You can choose to wish for Renown, Lucky Envelopes or Gold.

But for me the main highlight of this update is the Mahjong inspired Hotpot minigame. The rules are extremely simple. Finish 3 sets of 3 tiles. Tiles come in different colours and have various icons on them. For example yellow tiles have carrot, corn and potato icons on them. In order to make a set of 3 you have two options. You either collect 3 of the same icon or 1 of each icon. So in order to complete a yellow set, you either need something like 3 carrots or 3 corns or 3 potatoes OR 1 carrot + 1 corn + 1 potato. Either 3 of the same icon or 1 of each different icon. If you have 2 of the same icon and 1 different icon it won't count as a complete set. Once you complete 3 sets of 3 this way, you win the game.

The amount of Lucky Envelopes you get depends on how long the game has been going on and the quality of your hand. 3 of the same icon gives more points as opposed to a set of 1 of each different icon. But if you lose, don't worry. The best thing about this game is that you will still win Lucky Envelopes no matter what, even if you lose. The longer the game goes on, the more Lucky Envelopes you get.

Kick back, relax, listen to your favourite soundtrack and enjoy the hotpot.
