Best Comedy Shows to Watch: Spaced

Hi again. We are almost at the top now. Tomorrow number 1 will be revealed but tonight's the night (is Dexter here?) of the runner up! This is a show that is really hard to describe and full of incredibly hilarious moments so I'll try to share as many photos and videos as I can. This way I'll have let the scenes impress you instead of my boring descriptions.

Let's get to know a little bit about my number 2 now.

SPACED

I just LOVE this show to death (along with my number 1). When Simon Pegg, Edgar Wright and Nick Frost get together, it is simply IMPOSSIBLE for them to go wrong. Even if they just stood still they'd be funny. I am actually thinking of writing a tribute post about this trio. If British humour is your cup of tea and if you want to have fun, then you have to check them out!

Before talking about the plot, in order to understand the show you must know a thing or two about Star Wars. Simon Pegg is a huge Star Wars fan along with Edgar Wright and as they are writers of this show there are numerous references to Star Wars. If you are not familiar with Star Wars at all, all these jokes will go to waste. The name of the show is also inspired by Star Wars.

Now let's take a brief look at the plot. The story centres around Tim and Daisy, our main characters, trying to make it out and decide what to do with their lives in London. These two meet at a cafe where they try to look for flats they can afford. They are not rich people so they can't afford most of these flats. Here is a hilarious 46-second video that shows how upset and miserable they are. I LOVE the way Tim cries, he is sooooo sweet :) I just want to hug him :D

This is like the first scene of the pilot episode which sets off a very high standard in the show and as we see each episode, we can know for sure that the show will get better and better and it really does! You have to agree with me that the way they cry is a big laugh out loud moment.

But after crying loudly about it they come across an add on paper about a flat that is quite cheap which is something they can afford but in order for them to live there they have to be a couple as the landlady Marsha, who owns that building, wants a couple to live there. It's quite funny to run into a stranger at a cafe then later on decide to be roommates before knowing anything about the other person. Despite not knowing a thing about each other they decide to give it a try so we see them doing everything they can in order to memorise everything about each other in a very short amount of time. When they check out the apartment they somehow manage to make Marsha believe that they are a couple so they start living there. In the show we see their adventures(!) in this flat as well as how unproductive their days are. For example Tim spends his days by playing playstation games. In one episode he plays so much Resident Evil that he starts to freak out whenever he sees a person standing next to him. He even imagines them as zombies and tries to run away from them. Here you can see how involved he is in the gameplay process. I too as a hardcore gamer know exactly what he is feeling :D The video only shows him playing the video game but later on in the episode he attends an event where he sees everyone as zombies. Then he panics and flees from the building :D

In another scene we see him play Tomb Raider. He constantly lets Lara Croft drown because that's the kind of mood. he is in. He just drowns her over and over and over again :D I must admit that I did that once or twice when I played Tomb Raider too. He does that because earlier in the day a letter he got from his ex girlfriend made him "wanna drown things" :D You can watch the scene below. This video includes Tim's neighbour Brian. You'll know why he's dressed like that when I explain the reason.

Most of the funniest moments in the show also involve Tim's best friend Mike. Mike is obsessed with guns, grenades, war, and soldiers. We mostly see him in camouflaged uniforms. He lives in military time like 2100 or 0900 hours. He loves robot fighting as well. Tim and Mike actually create a robot together to enter a competition. Apart from Mike, another favourite character of mine is Brian who is another tenant in the apartment Mike and Daisy live in. Brian is an eccentric conceptual artist. He mainly works in his apartment on the ground floor. He does all kinds of crazy paintings and pieces which explains the way he is dressed like that in the video above. I actually find him inspiring.

Another favourite scene of mine involves all these there chaps. In this scene Mike talks about guy telepathy and how guys have got a biological connection. Brian can't understand what he means so Mike along with Tim simply demonstrate how it works. I actually want to do that myself one day. But I don't have the necessary company for it and it'd just be way too depressing for me to do it alone.

And here is another favourite moment of mine. I have never played paintball but when I do, I really want my experience to be like theirs in the show. Mike gets shot while he tries to block the way by Tim's ex girlfriend's new boyfriend. It's funny to see yellow paint come out of his mouth after he gets shot. He says he is tired while Tim yells for a medic. Then Mike dies and Tim starts crying. Hahaha it's just brilliant! This scene is actually about 9 minutes long but I found a much shorter video for you that shows all the best bits. Make sure you watch it cause it is probably one of the best scenes of the show if not THE best.

I don't think I should say more about this beautiful and witty show. I wanted to let the scenes speak for themselves rather than describing them with some boring text. The show is not widely rewarded with awards but it doesn't matter. This is a UK show so it only won 2 British Comedy Awards but this show is just too good for those rubbish awards anyway.
