Heroes of the Storm Kharazim Announced at Gamescom 2015

Diablo themed Eternal Conflict is nearing its end with the final addition Monk Kharazim, as the very first Diablo support hero, making his way into the Nexus in the coming weeks. Kharazim abilities, skins and trailer are announced at Gamescom, as well as a new Diablo themed 3-lane map called Infernal Shrines.

While I'm pretty excited about Kharazim, I was sort of wishing for one last hero that would end the Eternal Conflict event, and I hoped that hero would be Malthael but seeing that the next hero after Monk will be Rexxar, Malthael will not be coming to Heroes of the Storm anytime soon, so I'm quite upset about that.

Anyway, let's get right into Kharazim abilities. His first ability is Radiant Strike that lets him teleport to friendly or enemy heroes. His second ability is Breath of Heaven that heals Kharazim and nearby friendly heroes. In Kharazim's ability video, Breath of Heaven seems to boost movement speed as well but we don't know if it's with a talent or the ability itself has an automatic movement speed boost. His third ability is Deadly Reach; a combo attack that extends his attack range and deals bonus damage on attacks.

Kharazim's first heroic ability is Seven-Sided Strike, which I'm sure many Diablo players know very well :) When Kharazim does Seven Sided Strike, he becomes untargetable and lands 7 attacks on nearby enemies. His second heroic ability is Divine Palm which puts an Ally into Statis making him/her invulnerable and greatly heals. During Stasis, targeted Ally can not move.

Kharazim will be able to choose one of the following 3 traits at level 1. Transcendence, Iron Fists, Insight. Transcendence will heal Kharazim through melee combat; Iron Fists will boost his attack damage; Insight will allow him to restore mana.

Here is the Kharazim Trailer:

Apart from Monk Kharazim, a brand new battleground called Infernal Shrines has also been announced at Gamescom. Diablo themed Infernal Shrines will be a 3-lane battleground, sharing the graphics of our latest Battlefield of Eternity map. Infernal Shrines will contain 3 shrines that will periodically gain power. Teams must capture these shrines and defeat their guardians to awaken a boss with one of the following three deadly affixes: Arcane, Frozen, Mortar. These bosses will hunt down nearby enemy heroes and push lanes closest to their shrine.

First look at Infernal Shrines:

After Kharazim and then Rexxar make their way into the Nexus, we will be looking at a heavy hitting warrior Artanis from Starcraft II: Legacy of the Void as the next hero. Artanis will most likely be the free hero for those who purchased Starcraft II: Legacy of the Void. Being one among them, I can't wait to try out Artanis the instant he is released :)

Some very exciting things are happening at Gamescom regarding Heroes of the Storm for sure. Now let's hear that next World of Warcraft expansion shall we? :D

  1. Really looking forward to playing the Monk, to be honest. While I hoped that his traits would be a bit more game-changing (different secondary effects for abilities maybe), he still sounds like an alright character.

Super glad they have another Eternal Conquest-like map in the works and a 3-lane one at that! I liked EC, so I'm sure I'll like this one too! :D

    1. People testing him out at Gamescon say he is not that strong of a solo support, I guess he will be similar to Tassadar and Tyrande in that regard. But we'll see for ourselves when he is released :)
